Description

To honor the true spirit of craftsmanship and herbalism we create our liquid extracts the traditional way of slow extraction by first soaking Tremella medicinal mushrooms biomass in 43% alcohol for a minimum of four weeks. The snow mushroom pieces are then removed from the alcohol and gently steeped in spring water for 4-8 hours. Finally, the tincture and hot-water extractions are filtered and combined to create a potent elixir of bio-available compounds with a total alcohol content of +- 30%.

Dosage

A single 50 ml bottle of dual-extract should last approximately 50 days, with a daily dosage of 20 drops (1ml). For those who may have alcohol sensitivities, we recommend dropping your dosage into warm water to evaporate the alcohol before drinking.

About Tremella (Tremella fuciformis)

When at its prime, on a cool rainy day in a dark mossy forest with scattered sunlight flowing through the canopy above, this fungus might very well display the most beautiful and elegant mushroom of them all. Once you’ve seen this mushroom in its full elegance , it will come as no surprise that Tremella is the beauty mushroom.

This mushroom is very common in Asian cuisine. It is absolutely delicious in stews, soups and broths. We hope to include a whole, dehydrated option for sale on the website soon enough for each of you to experience this.

Many mushrooms and fungi are renowned for their culinary and medicinal appications, Tremella is no different and boasts a rather unique set of benefits beyond the general benefits found in mushrooms like immunomodulating, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties etc  etc.

What makes it unique? Well let’s first take a look at some of the historical tales told about this fungus….

The use of Tremella for beauty dates back millennia, the earliest recorded use was all the way back in 200 AD in the writings of Shen Nong Ben Cao Jing, one of the fathers of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

There are legends told of one of “the four great beauties” of China, Yang Guifei who used the Snow mushroom (yín ěr) to maintain her exceptional beauty. She gave credit to this mushroom for her longevity, vitality and youthfulness.

We all know the use of medicinal mushrooms has been shrugged off as mostly mysticism by western medicine until recent years where they have become the topic of discussion as a potential treatment for many different ailments or as a good source of key vitamins, minerals and protein. Tremella is loaded with antioxidants (particularly Super oxide dismutase ‘SOD’), Vitamin D, B1, B2, B6, B9 and good levels of minerals such as zinc, calcium, potassium, magnesium, copper, and iron.

Tremella has a few other health-promoting compounds worthy of mention, including mannose, xylose, and glucuronic acid to name some of the major players.

Glucuronic acid is linked to the very well know compound called hyaluronic acid and plays a big role in tremella’s prized anti-ageing and skin hydration benefits. Hyaluronic acid is considered the ‘gold standard” of skincare.  The smaller particle size of Glucuronic acid makes for better water retention properties and therefore some believe it to be even more effective at helping our skin stay hydrated and elastic.  Because of this some people refer to Snow fungus as “vegan collagen”. Tremella can also be used topically as a face serum, skin food or gelatinous scrub.

As if that wasn’t enough, Tremella might also help improve lung health and protect brain cells.

When to take Snow fungus?

It does not directly impack your energy systems in a stimulating way so can be used at any time of the day. We believe true skin health starts on the inside, but feel free to apply your liquid extract topically or combine with your favorite face mask or -wash.
